Insomnia Excitement...

Last night I couldn't go to sleep... so I watched some shows I had recorded until about 1am. I was just getting comfortable and I heard sirens... then more sirens... louder sirens... then they shut off... very nearby. It was 1:20am. I looked out our bedroom window- I could see the reflection of the lights on the houses behind us, so I walked to the kitchen and immediately saw the Springdale ladder truck in front of our house! I ran and woke up Randy and we went outside to see who's home was obviously on fire- there were 5 fire trucks on our street. It was the house across the street and two down where Dale and his son Chris (in his mid 20's) live. The roof was on fire, with flames shooting way in the air. Dale and Chris were outside and safe. They were awakened by the smoke detectors. They only got out with the clothes they were sleeping in and one cell phone. They did get one car moved out of the drive way. Randy and I watched with 20 or so of our neighbors. Then we decided that the boys would be upset if they missed seeing the 'action' so we went and woke them up. By the time we got back outside with them, the roof had caved in. Thankfully, no one was hurt; but their home is a total loss. Chris luckily said he had a bag of clothes in the truck of his car, and Dale had some shoes in the car he moved- but that was it. They have insurance with State Farm, so they will be OK. Here are some pictures I took:

The ladder truck was providing water and light

Fire was mostly out by 2:15 or so. We all went back to bed at 2:30! It was a short night for me, but I was thankful to be in my home, in my bed.
